Answers for drivers considering FedEx pickup & delivery routes with Samp Logistics.
What does a typical day look like?
You'll arrive at our Tulsa terminal in the early morning (usually around 6:00 AM), load your van or truck, scan packages with a FedEx handheld, and run your assigned route through the Tulsa metro. Deliveries and pickups at businesses and residences, then return to the terminal to unload and check in. Most drivers finish mid-afternoon, Monday through Friday.
Do I need my own vehicle?
For van and box truck P&D roles, no — we provide company vehicles. You need a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Personal vehicle is only relevant if you're applying for a helper/swing role where you meet the driver at the first stop (some positions may require your own transportation to the terminal).
Do I need a CDL?
Not for standard step van routes. Box truck positions may prefer CDL experience but we evaluate case-by-case. Commercial driving experience is always a plus.
How much do drivers get paid?
Pay depends on role and experience. Van drivers typically start around $18–$22/hour; box truck drivers $20–$25/hour, with performance bonuses on some routes. Pay is weekly. See our Careers page for current ranges — we'll confirm exact offers during interviews.
What are the schedule and days off?
Core schedule is Monday–Friday, early morning start. Peak season (roughly November through January) may include optional or required Saturdays. We do not run typical "gig" on-demand shifts — this is a consistent route-based job.
What is the hiring process?
Submit the online application → phone screen → in-person interview and MVR/background check → DOT physical and drug screen → route training/shadowing → start on a route. Timeline is often 1–2 weeks for candidates with clean records.
What disqualifies applicants?
Major violations on your MVR (DUI, reckless driving, recent suspensions), failed drug screen, or inability to pass a DOT physical. Minor tickets are reviewed individually — honesty on your application helps.
Is this a FedEx employee job?
No. Samp Logistics is an independent FedEx Ground contractor. You are employed by Samp, not FedEx Corporation. You wear FedEx-branded service expectations on the road, but payroll and management are through us.
Where are routes located?
Routes originate from Tulsa and cover the Tulsa metro: Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks, Owasso, and nearby areas. Routes are assigned based on experience and business needs.
